It may have taken until the 78th game of the 2009-2010 season, but the record for most coaching wins in NBA history now belongs someone else.

Lenny Wilkens, who broke Red Auerbach’s record a few years back is now in second place, as there is a new record holder.

That new record holder is Don Nelson, the coach of the Golden State Warriors, the fourth different team for the 31-year coaching veteran.

Anthony Tolliver scored a career-high 34 points, as the Warriors got their 24th win of the season with a 116-107 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Nelson is now alone atop the list after picking up his 1,333rd career victory, a career that began in 1976, when Nelson replaced Larry Costello as coach of the Milwaukee Bucks 19 games into that season.

Following the Bucks, Nelson came to the Warriors, then it was off to New York, to coach the Knicks, before heading to the Dallas Mavericks and finally back to the Warriors.

Stephen Curry scored 27 points, dished off 14 assists and picked up a career0high seven steals, as the Warriors held off the Timberwolves in the end.

In what looked like a blowout victory, as the Warriors took a 27-point lead at one point during the game fall to close as four with under a minute remaining in the game was clinched at the free throw, as Anthony Morrow hit his free throws.
