This was definitely a game that the Golden State Warriors needed to win, especially against the number one seed in the Western Conference, the New Orleans Hornets.

Chris Paul picked up his fourth career triple double of his career, as the Hornets defeated the Warriors 108-96 at New Orleans Arena.

Paul scored 16 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished off 10 assists, as the Hornets solidified the top spot in the Western Conference and also a team record for most wins in a season with 54.

The third-year guard out of Wake Forest also picked up five steals, as the Hornets won for the 11th consecutive time in the friendly confines of New Orleans Arena and their fourth consecutive win overall.

Both Peja Stojakovic and David West each scored 25 points, as the Hornets ended the game on an 18-6 spurt after the Warriors tied up the game at 90, after a 12-0 run of their own.

Monta Ellis scored 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but it was not enough, as the Warriors coupled with the Dallas Mavericks over the Phoenix Suns at USAIRWAYS Center dropped a full two games behind the team they eliminated in last season’s playoffs.

Andris Biedrins and Baron Davis each scored 17 points, while Biedrins also grabbed 15 rebounds; however it was not for the Warriors, who end their road trip to San Antonio, Dallas, Memphis and New Orleans with a record of 1-3.
