OAKLAND-This was definitely a game that the Golden State Warriors needed, especially having to make a miraculous comeback against the Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday night.
Stephen Jackson scored 16 points in the first half on his way to 21, as the Warriors simply demolished the Philadelphia 76ers 119-97 before 19,602 at Oracle Arena, the 21st sellout in 30 home games this season.
Mickael Pietrus led the Warriors with 23 points, as the Warriors never trailed in the game.
The Warriors led by as many as 21 points at one point in the game, on their way to a 22-point victory.
Monta Ellis added 21 for the Warriors , who won for the third time in their last four outings.
Ellis became just the ninth guard in NBA history to shoot over 60 percent from the floor in the month of February.
Brandon Wright continues to be a spark plug in replacing the injured Andris Biedrins, who is out after an emergency appendectomy on February 21.
Wright started for the third time this season and scored 12 points in 19 minutes.
Austin Croshere, who scored a season-high 14 points in 22 minutes in Tuesday night’s come-from-behind victory over the SuperSonics scored seven points.
.
It was an off night for Baron Davis, as he went a dismal 2-for-16 on his way to scoring just four points.
Andre Miller scored 18, while Rodney Carney also added 18 and Willie Green chipped in with 17 for the 76ers, who saw their modest two-game winning streak come to a screeching halt.
This was the eighth time that the Warriors have played on Leap Day, which comes every four years.
The last time the Warriors played on Leap Day was on February 29, 1996 ,when the Warriors lost to the Indiana Pacers at the Pacers former home, Market Square Arena by the final score of 94-85.
Exactly four years before that on February 29, 1992, the Warriors defeated the Miami Heat at Oakland Coliseum Arena by the final score of 136-110.
