In what people may consider a shock, Barry Zito left the Oakland A’s not to go to the Texas Rangers or the New York Mets, but to the San Francisco Giants.
Yes, that is correct; Zito left the Green and Gold of the A’s for the Orange and Black of the Giants.
Zito will be the ace of the Giants staff that lost Jason Schmidt to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this winter.
The contract that Zito will receive from the Giants is for seven years and he will receive $126 million for the duration of the contract.
Zito will join a staff that includes Matt Morris, Matt Cain, Noah Lowry and Brad Hennessey under new manager Bruce Bochy, who replaced Felipe Alou in November.
