OAKLAND-Finally, JaMarcus Russell took the field as a professional quarterback for the Oakland Raiders against the Denver Broncos.
Russell took the field to a standing ovation, and completed a pass to Jerry Porter for 16 yards on his very first attempt against the long-time rivals.
Despite Russell making his debut, Josh McCown set a career-high with three touchdown passes and the Raiders made it two straight victories with a 34-20 victory at McAfee Coliseum.
McCown threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end Zach Miller with 50 seconds left in the first half to give the Raiders a 14-7 lead at the half.
Justin Fargas set a career high by carrying the ball 33 times for 146 yards and a touchdown.
With the victory, the Raiders won for the first time in last 13 outings at home.
This was the second straight loss for the Broncos, who fall two games behind the division leading San Diego Chargers.
McCown hit Tim Dwight for a touchdown on the Raiders first possession of the game.
This was the first time in 36 games that the Raiders have scored on their opening drive of the game.
It was not a good day for the Broncos at all, as they turned the ball over on four different occasions.
The four turnovers are the most by the Broncos since September 9, 1990, when they also turned the ball over four times.
Jay Cutler went 16-for-32 for 214 yards and two interceptions.
Travis Henry made his return to the field after sitting out the last two games with a knee injury, and scored two touchdowns on the ground; however Henry also fumbled the ball on two different occasions.
