San Francisco faces another team worse than them in a matchup of the NFC’s 2 worst teams.
St. Louis had their first win last week. Prior to that, they had the longest franchise losing streak at 8 games.
A win for the Rams this week would mean a switch in position between the two teams within the division.
Last meeting, quarterback Marc Bulger suffered broken ribs against the 49ers which caused him to miss 2 games, similar to Smith.
Meanwhile, SF has the franchise’s lowest scoring average with 11.6 points per game.
Quarterback Alex Smith has yet to find his stroke. He has a chronically strained forearm in addition to his shoulder injury and will have to recuperate some more from the bench. Trent Dilfer, the veteran, will make at least 1 more start.
Running back Frank Gore will be looking for his 1st touchdown since last month.
Darrell Jackson has only seen the end zone once despite catching over 20 passes.
Arnaz Battle leads the team in receiving TDs and yards and receptions.
If the series trend continues, it will be a tight game but end up a victory for SF.
Predictions: A consensus picks St. Louis: 69% of Yahoo! Sports’ Pro Football Pick’em users, all 5 of Yahoo! Sports’ experts and sportingnews.com fan blogs by a score of 35-10.
