OAKLAND-When it comes to relievers, the McAfee Coliseum definitely has seen its shares of some of the greats of all-time.
Sage Rosenfels maybe a NFL quarterback, but the way he played in relief of Matt Schaub, he can join the list of great relievers who have pitched in the 40 years that the Oakland A’s have been playing in the Bay Area.
Rosenfels hooked up with Andre Davis for a spectacular throw and catch on a 42-yard touchdown pass to give the Houston Texans a 24-10 lead, as they held on for a 24-17 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
With the victory, the Texans snapped a three-game losing streak, but just as important moved their all-time record against the Raiders up to a perfect 3-0 since the Texans joined the league in 2002.
Ron Dayne, who won the 1999 Heisman Trophy for the Wisconsin Badgers played superb, as he replaced Ahman Green.
Dayne carried the ball 21 time for a season-high 122 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown run that gave the Texans a 14-0 lead.
Justin Fargas led the Raiders with 104 yards rushing on the ground, and a touchdown.
Josh McCown made his return to the field after suffering a broken toe, and it was definitely not the way that he wants to remember it ever.
McCown went 13-for-28 for 158 yards with a touchdown, but McCown also threw three interceptions.
The fans began to chant for number one draft pick JaMarcus Russell in the first half to come on to replace McCown, but Lane Kiffin stayed with McCown.
"As much they may hate me or anybody else they don't understand how I feel," said McCown. "Nobody in this room and none of the fans want to feel what I feel right now. Trust me. It's a sick, hurting feeling you can't describe."
Sebastian Janikowski attempted to put hi name into the record book, as he attempted a NFL Record 64-yard field goal in the waning moments of the fist half.
Unfortunately, the kick bounced off the right upright and to the ground.
If the kick would have gone through the uprights instead of bouncing off the upright, it would have broke the record that Tom Dempsey set on November 8, 1970 with just seconds remaining, as the New Orleans Saints defeated the Detroit Lions 19-17 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans.
Dempsey’s record was tied nearly 28 years later, as Jason Elam kicked a 63-yarder at the halftime gun, as Elam hit his record-tying field goal against the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 25, 1998 at the old Mile High Stadium.
