When Daunte Culpepper came to the Oakland Raiders during training camp this past summer, he probably circled two dates on the schedule.

Those dates would be September 30 against the Miami Dolphins, and November 18 versus the Minnesota Vikings.

The significance of those dates is important to Culpepper; because those are the two teams basically gave up on him.

Culpepper got the start in place of the injured Josh McCown, who is out with a broken right toe.

In his place, all Culpepper did was run for three touchdowns and threw for two more, as the Raiders defeated the Dolphins 35-17 at Dolphins.

Justin Fargas replaced the injured Lamont Jordan just before the half, and ran for a career-high 179 yards against an anemic Dolphins defense.

The 179 yards that Fargas gained was the fourth most they gained since the merger of the AFL and NFL in 1970, and it was the most by a Raiders running back since 1987.

Jordan left the game due to a back injury.

Ronnie Brown led the Dolphins with 134 yards, an also caught six passes for 73 yards.

NOTES: The Raiders are off next week, and will return to the field, as they head to Qualcomm Stadium to face the San Diego Chargers on October 14.
