Rich Aurilia maybe one of the most popular players ever to wear the Orange and Black of the San Francisco Giants, but currently his name maybe mud to the allegiances of Giants fans around the country.

Aurilia, who helped the Giants to the 2002 World Series, picked up three hits while former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Todd Hollandsworth, the brother in-law of former Giants reliever Matt Herges also picked up three and the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Giants 3-0

Both Aurilia and Hollandsworth equaled the total amount of hits that the entire Giants team was able to get off of Bronson Arroyo.

It was memorable for Arroyo (W,12-9) , as he picked up his first career shutout since joining the major leagues.

Matt Morris (L,10-12) was roughed up, as he walked four of the first eight batters he faced, as the Giants saw their modest three-game winning streak fall by the wayside.

Barry Bonds was held homerless for the first time since Friday’s loss to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Bonds continues to inch towards the magical number of 755 held by Hank Aaron. Bonds is also just three home runs away from tying Aaron’s National League record of 733 home runs in a career.

Giants Notes:

Game 3 of this series on Wednesday with a 9:35 PDT start, will have Noah Lowry (7-8, 4.00 era) on the mound for the Giants , going against the Reds’ Chris Michalak, (1-2, 5.57 era).

After Wednesday’s game, the Giants will come home for a six game homestand starting on Friday, with three against the San Diego Padres, and three against the Colorado Rockies.
