Only in a game between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers, a bizarre call would help the Giants onto victory.

Andres Torres hit a two-run double in the top of the ninth, as the Giants came back to defeat the Dodgers 7-5 at Dodger Stadium.

Now to the bizarre call of the game, and who knows maybe the entire season for these two longtime rivals, that have been facing each other since the 19th century.

After the ejections of Dodgers manager Joe Torre and bench coach Bob Schafer, hitting coach Don Mattingly became the acting manager.

Mattingly went out to talk to closer Jonathan Broxton, and left the mound, only to return a split second later to talk to Broxton.

Bruce Bochy noticed that this was technicality the second trip to the mound by Mattingly to Broxton in the same inning ,thus came the change in pitchers.

George Sherrill came into replace Broxton, and the first batter he faced was Torres, who slammed his pitch off the left-center field wall to score Nate Schierholtz and Edgar Renteria and give the Giants a one-run lead.

Following a Freddy Sanchez fielders’ choice that saw Aubrey Huff get thrown out at home plate, Buster Posey continued his hot hitting, as he singled to right field to score Torres.

Torre was ejected after Clayton Kershaw hit Aaron Rowand, this came after a warning by home plate umpire Adrian Johnson.

Schafer was ejected in the sixth inning after arguing with Johnson over the non ejection of Giants pitcher Denny Bautista.

This all started when Tim Lincecum threw behind Dodgers centerfielder Matt Kemp and both benches were warned.

It was off night for Lincecum, who went 4.2 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out two.

Xavier Paul gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the first inning, as he doubled in Rafael Furcal with the Dodgers first run of the evening.

Andre Ethier would then extend the Dodgers lead up to 3-0, as he hit a two-run home run off of Lincecum.

Edgar Renteria then got the Giants on the board in the top of the second inning, as grounded out to shortstop to score Pablo Sandoval.

The Dodgers extended the lead up to 5-1, as they scored two runs in the bottom of the third off the bats of Blake DeWitt, who singled in Paul and then Casey Blake doubled in Ethier.

Sanchez scored the Giants second run of the evening, as he scored on a Paul error that allowed Pat Burrell to score.

Sandoval then got the Giants within one run, as he hit a two-run double to score Posey and Burrell to get the Giants within one run, setting up the dramatic ninth inning.

Without the services of closer Brian Wilson, Jeremy Affeldt came on to pickup his third save of the season, despite allowing a double to Furcal with one out.
