WASHINGTON-Buster Posey is showing the National League why he was the Golden Spikes Award winner at Florida State University in 2008, and the number one prospect in the organization coming into the season.

Posey went 4-for-5, including a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning and the San Francisco Giants defeated the Washington Nationals 10-5 before 23,977 at Nationals Park.

With the victory, the Giants are now 6-4 and have clinched a winning road trip, not bad after starting the road trip losing three out of four against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

“Great one more game,” said Bruce Bochy.

After Posey’s home run, Nationals manager Jim Riggleman wanted the reviewed due to fan interference, but after a three-minute review, the home run stood and Posey picked up his seventh home run of the season and sixth of the road trip.

“Six home runs in 10 games is pretty ridiculous,” said Joe Martinez.

It is now a seven-game hitting streak for Posey, who entered the game with a .469 average with five home runs and 10 runs batted in.

Posey was not too shabby behind the plate either, as he made a veteran play on a bunt by Ian Desmond in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The rookie snared the bunt, and threw to Pablo Sandoval at third base who tagged out a speedy Roger Bernardina.

“Barely in the front of the plate,” said Posey about the bunt off the bat of Desmond.

It was Posey who hit the game-winning single to right field in the top of the seventh inning

After back-to-back walks to Freddy Sanchez and Aubrey Huff, the Giants put on the perfect hit and run play and it worked, as Posey’s hit a ball into right field to score Sanchez with the eventual game-winning run.

Aaron Rowand tied up the game with his eighth home run of the season, a solo shot off of Tyler Clippard in the top of the seventh inning.

It was Rowand’s first home run since he connected for one against Vicente Padilla of the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 30 at AT&T Park.

“That was a huge at-bat,” said Posey.

Juan Uribe snapped out of a 0-for-23 slump, as he doubled in Posey with the fourth and final run of the seventh inning for the Giants.

That was the first hit for Uribe since June 29, when he singled in the bottom of the fourth inning against John Ely of the Los Angeles Dodgers at AT&T Park.

Sanchez lasted just 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on five hits, walking two and striking out six on the first anniversary of his no-hitter against the San Diego Padres at AT&T Park.

Martinez came on to replace Sanchez, and went 1.2 innings, allowing just three hits and the entire bullpen was just phenomenal.

After Martinez, came Santiago Casilla, who pitched 0.2 innings to pickup his second win of the season, Chris Ray, Sergio Romo and Jeremy Affeldt all pitched perfect innings.

All in all, the Giants bullpen went 5.1 innings, did not allow a run on just three hits, walking just two and striking out seven.

“Bullpen saved us there,” said Bochy.

Adam Zimmerman got the Nationals on the board in the bottom of the first inning, as he doubled in Justin Maxwell, who led off the inning with a walk off of Sanchez.

The Nationals then made it 2-0, as Cristian Guzman scored on a wild pitch with Josh Willingham at the plate.

Nate Schierholtz got the Giants on the board in the top of the second inning ,as he doubled in Travis Ishikawa, who singled after they were two outs.

Sanchez then helped out his own cause, as he lined a single to center field to score both Schierholtz and Ishikawa to give the Giants a albeit short 3-2 lead.

Nate Morse tied up the game with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the second inning, as he took a 2-2 pitch from Sanchez and planted it over the right-center field wall for his fourth home run of the season.

Willingham then scored the Nationals fourth run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning, as he singled to leadoff the inning and scored on a Ivan Rodriguez double.

Like Sanchez, Stammen helped out his own cause, as he doubled over the head of Aubrey Huff to score Rodriguez from third base.

Stammen would not fare in the decision, as he went 5.1 innings, giving up four runs on six hits, walking two and striking out two.

NOTES: Madison Bumgarner close out the first half for the Giants, as he will take to the Nationals Park mound for the first time in his major league career. On the other side of things, Riggleman will send former Giants pitcher Livan Hernandez to the mound.

This was the 21st come-from-behind win of the season of the 2010 season for the Giants.

Just like in Milwaukee, where they have the Sausage Races, Washington D.C., is home of the Racing Presidents.

George Washington won the race for the 14th time this season, and remains in third place behind Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln ,who share the lead with 17. Teddy Roosevelt is dead last with zero wins this season.
