The San Francisco Giants dropped Sunday's ball game to the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 3-1 at Dodgers Stadium this afternoon. JC and Kenny G's Giant footnotes: The Giants get ready for the second half of the season after finishing up with the Dodgers this past weekend. The Giants will have the luxury of taking four days off instead of the usual three after the all star break. The Giants return to action as of Friday night against the second place Philadelphia Phillies at AT&T Park.

The Giants will host an eight game home stand beginning this coming Friday night featuring teams like the Phillies, Brewers, and Padres.

The Giants are 23-20 at home this season and the Phillies are 19-21 on the road starting the second half.

Things to watch for in Giant pitching: The second half for Giants pitching look for Jason Schmidt to try to snap his funk of loosing five of his last six games and shore up his efforts Schmidt (6-5 ERA 2.78) San Francisco's lone representative in the All-Star game has been doing some film studying, watching his mechanic, pitch delivery, velocity on his pitches and breaking the science down to see what he needs to do to get on track for the second half.

Matt Morris has had an up and down first half (7-7 ERA 4.29) he's looking to keep some of the hitters off balance. Morris has won four of his last five ball games did not get a decision in the ball game the Giants lost to the Dodgers on Thursday night pitching six innings, giving up 10 hits and six runs.

Noah Lowry helped his own cause on Saturday with his first career home run and picking up his fourth win. Lowry wins his third straight ball game in the Saturday victory and should be on track to help the Giants to pick up a few more wins for the second half.
