With the help of a four-run rally in the top of the first inning, the San Francisco Giants battled with the Los Angeles Dodgers throughout the afternoon and finally it paid off with an 11-7 victory for the Giants at Dodgers Stadium and to take a 2-1 lead in the four game series.

The Giants had home run help from Ray Durham for his 12th homer of the year in the first inning, off Dodgers starter Derek Lowe. Noah Lowry then connected for his first career home run in the fourth inning, and Moises Alou climbed aboard for his tenth of the season.

Lowry had the win for the Giants (W, 4-5 ERA 4.08). He pitched 5.1 innings for four runs and nine hits. Dodgers’ starter Lowe (L, 7-5 ERA 3.88) pitched 4.2 innings eight hits, seven runs, all earned runs,

JC and Kenny G's Giant footnotes: The Giants conclude this four game series Sunday at Dodgers Stadium.

No matter how you look at the NL West every team that can get a win in that division is huge. The Giants would like to end the first half no more than 2.5 games back of first place San Diego. The Giants who face the Dodgers need a win to keep that kind of pace up.

Giants’ pitcher Noah Lowry after hitting his home run in the fourth inning, he returned to the dugout his team mates were laughing and Lowry improves his lifetime batting average to .226 with 26 lifetime hits.

Bonds was shaking his head and smiling when Lowry came back to the dugout. Bonds did not play in the ball game. Former Giant Jeff Kent Dodger second baseman also did not play. Kent is suffering from a strained muscle in his left.

Also former Giants Dodger outfielder Kenny Lofton rested Saturday. Lofton is suffering from a strained left side. Lofton left Friday night's game with tightness in his hamstring.

Bonds still wasn't talking about former trainer Greg Anderson who is in jail in a Dublin Correction Facility for contempt of court in not answering questions regarding documents seized at Anderson's home which reportedly recorded Bonds getting dispensed drugs from Anderson.

Sunday's match ups: The Giants will be starting Jason Schmidt (6-4 ERA 2.69) and for the Dodgers Aaron Sele (5-2 ERA 3.05). Schmidt is the lone Giants player representing the Giants. Schmidt will make his last start of the first half of the season. Schmidt has lost four of his last five starts.

First pitch at Chavez Ravine is at 1:10PM PDT.
