There's some good news and some bad news that came out of Thursday's game at Denver's Coors Field. The bad news is that the Giants extended their losing streak to six games with their 7-3 loss to the Rockies on Thursday.
Now with the good news: Tim Lincecum is scheduled to take the hill on Friday, the team's best chance of breaking the alarming cycle of bad play.
After young Madison Bumgarner pitched well but lost last Saturday to the Boston Red Sox, he had another decent outing but took his second straight defeat after giving up four runs and nine hits over seven innings, the big hit coming off the bat of former A's prospect Carlos Gonzalez, who ripped a two-run homer in the first inning.
The Giants tied the game in the second on Aaron Rowand's single that brought in a pair of runs, but Colorado pushed back ahead with a run in the fourth and fifth innings.
In the sixth, newly-appointed everyday catcher Buster Posey cracked a solo homer off Colorado starter Aaron Cook to bring the Giants within a run, but the Rockies scored three more runs in the eighth off reliever Guillermo Mota to out the game out of reach.
