Freddy Sanchez could not remember the last time he hit a home run in major league action.
Sanchez went 196 at-bats without a home run, and that all changed when he slammed a three-run home run off the foul pole in left field in the top of the sixth inning.
That sixth inning blast gave the San Francisco Giants a 6-3 lead on their way to a 9-6 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
Pat Burrell hit his third home run since joining the Giants ,and his former college teammate at the University of Miami, Aubrey Huff also hit a home run, as the Giants won their first game in an American League park this season.
Sanchez’s last home run came off of Wesley Wright of the Houston Astros back on August 4, 2009, in his first days as a member of the Giants after being acquired by the team from the Pittsburgh Pirates just before the trading deadline.
Denny Bautista went 2.1 innings for his first win of the season, and Brian Wilson came on to get the final out of the game for his 19th save of the season.
John McDonald got the Blue Jays back into the game, as he hit a two-run home run off of Jeremy Affeldt in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Jonathan Sanchez lasted just 2.1 innings before being pulled from the game, as he gave up three runs on three hits, walking five and striking out five.
