Giants fans held their collective breaths in the sixth inning, when Tim Lincecum had a hard line drive bounce off his right shoulder, sending the pitcher straight to the ground.
However, after being knocked down by the shot, which was hit by Miguel Tejada and turned into a groundout, Lincecum got back off the deck and finished the inning.
So did the Giants. Tied at 2-2 when the ace right-hander left the game, they made him a winner by scoring two runs in their half of the sixth, thanks to back-to-back solo homers by Aubrey Huff and Juan Uribe as the Giants held on to a 6-3 win Wednesday afternoon at AT&T Park.
However, it wasn't easy for Lincecum, who only gave up a couple of runs on eight hits but also walked four batters and unleashed three wild pitches, which is highly uncharacteristic of him.
Not only did he hit that homer, but Huff also went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI, while Uribe and Freddy Sanchez each had two hits.
