SAN FRANCSICO-When the San Francisco and Oakland A’s faced each other in the first “Battle of the Bay Series,” in Oakland back in May, the Giants scored just one run in the series and were swept.

Fast forward one month, and the Giants returned the favor, as the Giants defeated the A’s 6-2 before 39,187 at AT&T Park.

Aubrey Huff hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and then Juan Uribe followed up Huff’s blast with a solo home run over the left-center field wall.

Not only did Huff hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but in his next at-bat, he hit his second home run of the game, another two-run shot onto the arcade in right-center field that scored Pablo Sandoval, who walked to leadoff the inning.

This was the second consecutive year that the Giants swept the A’s at AT&T Park, and the fourth consecutive year that there was a sweep by one of the two teams.

During the 2007 and 2008 seasons, the A’s swept the Giants at AT&T Park and last year , the Giants returned the favor.

Matt Cain went seven innings, giving up just one run on eight hits, walking just one and striking out eight on his way to his fourth straight victory.

Bengie Molina got the Giants on the board in the second inning, as he singled in Pat Burrell, who singled to lead off the inning and then advanced to second on a Kevin Kouzmanoff error.

Landon Powell tied up the game in the top of the fourth inning, as he singled to centerfield to score Jack Cust to tie up the game.

That would be the score when Sandoval walked with one out, and then Huff unleashed his ninth home run of the season onto the arcade in right field.

Just three pitches after Huff’s ninth home run of the season, Uribe hit his 10th home run of the season over the left-center wall.

Vin Mazzaro lasted six innings, allowing four (three of them earned) on six hits, walking one and striking out one.

Things got interesting once again in the eighth inning, as Dan Runzler gave up a run-scoring single to Kouzmanoff that scored Ryan Sweeney with the A’s second run of the afternoon.

Sweeney reached second base, as Runzler threw wildly to first base and the ball went down the right field line.

Runzler was then replaced by Guillermo Mota, who proceeded to retire Adam Rosales on a groundout back to the pitcher and then walked pinch-hitter Eric Patterson and Cliff Pennington.

Following the Pennington walk, Santiago Casilla came on to replace to Mota and promptly got pinch hitter Mark Ellis to popout to Buster Posey at first base to end the threat.
