The crowd at the SBC Center was already chanting "MVP" for the San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili who scored 27 points with seven assists and went 11-for-13 on the free-throw line.

Ginobili lead all scorers in the Spurs' 97-76 win over the Detroit Pistons in Game 2 of the NBA Finals Sunday night. His offensive passing and play pattern were factors as the Spurs never looked back from the opening tip.

Detroit's top scorer was Antonio McDyess with 15 points. Richard Hamilton added 14 and Chauncey Billups chipped in an unproductive 13.

Ginobili said, "of course you appreciate it, it's beautiful, but it's not something any of us should be thinking," when asked about the crowd calling for his MVP selection.

"Nothing's easy," said Spurs Head coach Gregg Popovich of his team's 2-0 series lead on the defending champs. "I think they had a poor night shooting tonight. We played some pretty good D, they also missed some shots. It was very physical. Bodies were knocking. Obviously Manu made a lot of threes, Bruce (Bowen) made threes, and that helps us offensively and made things look easy."

Only two teams in NBA history have come back from a two-game deficit in championship history. "Right now with the way we're playing and executing, and the contributions they're getting from a lot of people, they've just dominated two ball games." said Detroit head coach Larry Brown. "Hopefully with our crowd we'll come out throwing the first punch and being aggressive."

Ziz's footnotes: The Pistons have a long way to go and they're not playing anything like they did when they faced the Miami Heat. The two key figures in the Pistons offense during the Miami series were Billups and Hamilton, but they managed just 27 total points.

The Pistons will have to shut down Ginobili, pure and simple, if they plan to get even a chance against the Spurs in Game 3 Tuesday in Auburn Hills. Ginobili has lead all scorers in each of the first two games and his offensive game is unstoppable. When you're winning games by 15 and 21 points, respectively, like in Games 1 and 2, your defense has its work cut out for them.

The Spurs are playing like a true championship team, and if they can win Game 3 the curtain will be closing fast on the Pistons.
