The Detroit Pistons evened up the Eastern Conference
Finals in Game 6 with the Miami Heat 91-66 Saturday
night at Auburn Hills to tie the series at 3-3. The
Heat's Dwayne Wade was missing in action with a rib
injury. Richard Hamilton nailed 24 points for the
Pistons in the offensive shooting clinic, Tayshaun
Prince had 16 points, and Chauncey Billups had 14
points.
For Miami, Shaquille O'Neil had 24 points and Rashul
Butler had 13. Shaq was doing his best work without
Wade, but the score was plenty short against Detroit.
This isn't the first time that Shaq is contending to
get into the finals - he did so with Los Angeles, and
now he's battle-tested and will face a fierce Detroit
Piston team Monday night at 5:00 p.m. PDT for Game 7.
Despite the lopsided loss, it's even money on both of
these teams. With the Heat, you have Shaq and Wade,
two of the top players in the NBA. It's just the
waiting game to see if Wade will be ready for Game 7
on Monday night.
With the Pistons you have the defending NBA champions,
one of the best defensive teams in the league, not
just for the fact that the Pistons had won the
championship, but the kind of ball they play. The
Pistons are very team-oriented and they make sure
everybody is involved.
Either of these teams are going to put up a huge fight
in the title round to win a championship again for the
Eastern Conference.
David Zizmor will be covering the NBA finals with Joe
Cronin and Ken Gimblin and all three will be filing
post-game reports for Game 7 on Monday night.
David, Joe and Ken co-host Sportstalk on 1430 KVVN San
Jose and KLIB 1110 Sacramento.
