Joe Pavelski made sure Dan Boyle's goal was not in vain as San Jose beat the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 in Game 4 at the Pepsi Center to tie the series at two apiece Tuesday.

If the playoffs are all about ups and downs, the Sharks are hoping their ups continue, as they certainly "overcame" tonight.

Pavelski helped San Jose come back from losing their early lead as he scored at 10:24 in overtime. It was his second playoff goal as he was assisted by Douglas Murray and Ryane Clowe.

The Sharks' early lead occurred just 1:12 into the first period on the power play as Boyle got a bit of redemption regarding Game 3's mishap. He was aided by Clowe and Pavelski. Boyle had put the puck into his own net Sunday, causing his team to fall to Colorado. This is the first time the Sharks have scored first in the series.

Avalanche Paul Stastny made a similar goal to tie at 3:27 of the second period. He was helped by John-Michael Liles and Brandon Yip on the power play.

Colorado shortened the shot on goals differential despite being without Ryan Stoa 8:45 unspecified and Milan Hejduk. Stoa, who played 8:45 in Game 3, was "banged up" and Hejduk, who only played 1:20, suffered an upper-body injury. Shots on goal were 45-34 in favor of San Jose.

The Sharks' Dany Heatley was back in action for Game 4 after missing Game 3 with an undisclosed injury. He played for 19:17 and had four shots on goal.

Game notes: In both Game 1 and Game 3, the winning puck came against San Jose by way of one of their skaters. In both Game 1 and 2, the game-winning puck went in by way of a deflection. The series has gone to overtime for three straight games and been a one-goal decision all throughout. The Avs won faceoffs by a margin of 29-35. Los Tiburones return to the Shark Tank Thursday for Game 5 at 7:30pm.
