All Dan Boyle needed to do was clear the puck out of his own zone, but instead it went by his goalie and into the net.
Boyle’s shot went by Evgeni Nabokov and into his own net, as the Colorado Avalanche stunned the San Jose Sharks 1-0 in overtime.
The game-winning goal may have been shot by Boyle, but it was credited to Ryan O’Reilly, his first career playoff goal just 51 seconds into the extra period.
Craig Anderson was absolutely phenomenal for the Avalanche in the nets, as he stopped all 51 shots that the Sharks shot at him.
The Sharks were out shot by the Avalanche 9-8 in the first period, but after the Sharks out shot the Avalanche 42-7 in the second and third periods.
In all, the Avalanche were out shot 51-17, but came away with a 1-0 victory over the number one seed Sharks, with the next game coming on Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center.
