Avalanche cover Sharks

Despite giving up two goals at a time twice to the San Jose Sharks, the Colorado Avalanche scored in overtime and erased their 4-game losing streak for a 5-4 win.
The last time the Sharks moved past regulation, they also lost, to the Panthers March 13th in overtime.
The Avalanche are now 2 points ahead of the Flames for the last Western Conference playoff spot.
San Jose scored 2 goals less than a minute apart to start off the game. Douglas Murray was aided by Dan Boyle and Joe Thornton and Jamie McGinn was helped by Jed Ortmeyer and Torrey Mitchell. Murray's goal gave him a career-high of 4.
Colorado then scored 4 straight goals through the first, second and third periods to take and extend their lead.
Avalanche Kyle Quincey made it 2-1 at 13:41 of the first period, where he was assisted by Ryan O'Reilly. Teammate Peter Mueller then scored the two goals in the second period, aided by Adam Foote and Kyle Cumiskey at 13:58 and helped by Matt Duchene and former Shark Scott Hannan at 18:07. Paul Stastny scored twenty seconds into the third period, to make it 4-2. Stastny was assisted by Milan Hejduk and Mueller.
The Sharks were then able to tie the game with 2 straight goals. Patrick Marleau was aided by Dany Heatley and Joe Thornton. Joe Pavelski was helped by Heatley and Ryane Clowe.
However, John-Michael Liles scored 2:59 into overtime to give Colorado the win. He was assisted by Ryan Wilson and Hejduk.
San Jose was outshot 40-22 by the Avalanche. The Sharks outshot Colorado 10-5 in the first period, but then were outshot 7-14 in the second, 5-17 in the third and 0-4 in overtime.
The Avalanche were 1 for 6 on the power play, while San Jose went 0 for 3.
Game notes: Duchene had 7 shots on goal. The Capitals clinched the Presidents' Trophy.
