Despite leading an injury-plagued, underproductive club, Golden State coach Don Nelson is one win away from tying Lenny Wilkens for the most career NBA coaching victories after the Warriors defeated New York 128-117 Friday in Oakland.

Nelson secured win No. 1,331 with seven games left to tie Wilkens. His first chance to tie Wilkens comes when the Warriors travel to Toronto on Sunday to start a four-game road trip. Golden State returns home April 11 to face Oklahoma City.

Anthony Morrow poured in a game-high 35 points and Reggie Williams added 23, as the Warriors won without the services of guard Monta Ellis, who is out with a flu virus.

Corey Maggette scored 21 points for Golden State, while Stephen Curry contributed 15 points and 10 assists.

Like a typical Mike D’Antoni-coached team, the Knicks play little defense and were hampered by 35 turnovers. To compound matters, Tracy McGrady scored only three points in 14 minutes before sitting out the entire second half with a sore left knee

The lone bright spot for the Knickerbockers was David Lee’s first career triple-double. Lee led New York with a game-high 37 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and added 10 assists. Danilo Gallinari added 29 points, eight boards and eight assists for New York.

The Knicks are 0-4 on their five-game Western road swing that concludes against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
