Sharks end March like a lamb

The San Jose Sharks fell to the Dallas Stars Wednesday, 5-1, suffering their second loss of the month to the Stars.
San Jose won the teams' last meeting, 3-0 to start off a 3-game win streak, but Dallas ended it. The Sharks also lost to the Stars, 8-2 in the middle of the month. The Sharks ended up 6-6-1 for the month of March
Dallas's Steve Ott was the killer Wednesday, as he scored 3 goals in 3 different scenarios.
Dallas scored first short-handed, as Ott scored single-handedly at 1:45 of the first period. However, San Jose's Logan Couture was quick to tie the game up a minute later with a power-play goal, aided by Dan Boyle and Dany Heatley. The Stars came back though, at 10:20, when Loui Eriksson was helped by Brad Richards and James Neal.
In the second period, the Stars punched in three more goals. Brian Sutherby scored at 12:16, assisted by Jamie Benn and Toby Petersen, followed by Ott at 18:19, aided by Sutherby and Matt Niskanen and Ott with a power-play goal at 19:27, helped by Neal and Eriksson.
The game was sealed with a fight between Dallas's Mark Fistric and San Jose's Jason Demers.
In both the first and second periods, 2 of the Sharks' penalties came within a minute of each other.
Game notes: Since December 11th, the teams have traded wins and losses. Two of San Jose's players from Worcester were selected for the American Hockey League's All-Rookie team, goalie Alex Stalock and forward Logan Couture. April 2nd, the Sharks face the Minnesota Wild at 5pm. Announced Monday, the Sharks' 2010 playoff campaign's main sponsor will be leading solar provider Canadian Solar. Their U.S. headquarters is located in San Ramon.
