Sharks caught in scoring sandwich

Although the Dallas Stars's 4 straight goals since the beginning of the game were enough, they also ended with 4 straight goals to crush the San Jose Sharks 8-2 Tuesday and keep their playoff hopes alive.
Dallas's Mike Ribeiro and Brenden Morrow had 2 goals and 2 assists apiece, with one of each of their goals also coming shorthanded. Ribeiro's other goal came on the power play.
San Jose has scored 2 goals in each of their last 3 games, all losses, with the first an overtime loss.
The Stars' Brad Richards scored first on the power play with the only goal in the first period. He was aided by Steve Ott and Trevor Daley.
In the second period, teammate Toby Petersen then struck at 2:34, helped by Karlis Skrastins, followed by Brandon Segal at 4:30, assisted by Nicklas Grossman and Morrow and finally Morrow at 7:46, aided by Ribeiro and Brandon Segal. The Sharks' Dan Boyle prevented a second-period shutout with his team's first goal at 18:39 on the power play. He was helped by Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski.
San Jose swiftly followed its' goal with another just 51 seconds into the third period, as Devin Setoguchi was assisted by Patrick Marleau and Ryane Clowe. However, that's all they would get, as the Stars' started with two shorthanded goals, as Ribeiro scored at 6:56, aided by Loui Eriksson and Daley and Morrow scored again, helped by Ribeiro at 10:02. Ott then scored his first at 12:01, assisted by Richards and Eriksson and Ribeiro scored his second at 15:53, aided by Richards and Morrow.
The Sharks outshot Dallas 47-31. Facing more shots then he did in his first start of the season, Stars' goalie Kari Lehtonen rebounded nicely in his second start. Both of the Sharks' goaltenders gave up 4 goals apiece, with Evgeni Nabokov in net for 27:46 and Thomas Greiss in net for 32:08.
Game notes: The Stars' 8 goals was their highest this season. It was also the most allowed by San Jose this season. Segal has 8 points in his last 7 games. San Jose's Dan Boyle led all players with 8 shots on goal. The Sharks move on to face the Vancouver Canucks Thursday at 7pm.
