As of right now, no snow is expected at kick off on Saturday night at Denver’s Mile High Stadium. It will be expected to be rainy and snow on Monday but by then you'll be reading this space about how the Broncos and Patriots did on Saturday.
The last time the Patriots met the Broncos was back on October 16th, at Mile High Stadium as the Broncos held a 28-6 lead at one point in that game. The Patriots the good team that they are, made a run at the Broncos and closed the gap loosing the ball game 28-20.
The Broncos starting QB Champ Bailey injured his hamstring in the third quarter of that game and had to leave. The Pats took advantage of that and started to move on the scoreboard but fell short which demonstrates the determination of Pat's QB Tom Brady.
The Broncos who have the home field advantage and a better record of the two teams this Saturday night will try to unseat the Pats as World Champs. After having last weekend off the Broncos took this week easy with light practices and no shoulder pads in practice. The Broncos also had practice days off on Tuesday and last Saturday and Sunday.
The Broncos feel the light workouts and practices will help in getting them ready for Saturday night's game. "It’s taxing through the week, especially for us. Our offense can change drastically from one week to the next, from personnel, from plays, to everything. It definitely takes a toll on you, I think, studying and watching film and all that stuff. I think its great he's (Coach Mike Shanahan) going to give us a break from that." said Broncos tight end Stephen Alexander.
Brady put up some Hall of Fame numbers again this season with 4,110 passing yards and had 334 completions in 530 attempts. Brady in the last game threw for 15 completions, 77 attempts, for 201 yards in the 28-3 win.
"Well its important to score more points than the other team. However you get those points, that's what really counts." said Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick.
"I'm confident he'll make good decisions and good plays for us. So when he makes them, I'm really not surprised." Belichick said of Brady.
The Patriots will get help from receivers Deion Branch with (78 catches) and David Givens (59 catches) each set a career high for receptions and Branch set his career high for receiving yards with 998.
Stefani's AFC Divisional Playoff footnotes: The Patriots look like the favorite in this one. Although the Pats are, the visiting team and the Broncos have a better record they have long lasting experience and have moved through the hoops trying and accomplishing advancing to the next round.
Belichick has experience from learning from mistakes like the loss last October 16th to Denver. "You try to play error-free football more so than any other games you play in. You're playing the best teams in the league, and when you play the best teams in the league, any one mistake can get you beat. The games usually come down to one or two plays." said Brady.
Kick off is at 5:00PM Saturday night on ESPN.
