Photo Stealth continue to make moves before season start

The San Jose Stealth are getting ready for their fourth season in the South Bay Area, starting on January 5th 2007, but in continuing their preparation for the upcoming season, the Stealth on Wednesday acquired the 2005 NLL MVP, Collin Doyle and face-off man Darren Halls, and a 2007 Entry draft first round pick in exchange for forward Ryan Benesch, defenseman Kevin Fines, defenseman Chad Thompson, along with San Jose’s 2008 and 2009 First Round Entry Draft Picks, to the Toronto Rock.

San Jose, who made news earlier in the year by making moves before the 2006 NLL Entry Draft in September, by acquiring the first two draft choices, and also the seventh overall pick,. Ryan Benesch was San Jose’s first pick, and now will be moving on to the Rock.

Doyle, who is a nine-year veteran of the NLL, with his first year in the league in 1998, with the Ontario Raiders, and then moved on the Toronto Rock in their first year in the league in 1999 until 2006. During that time with the Rock, Doyle scored 297 goals, and had 388 assists.

Also during his tenure with the Rock, Doyle has been named NLL MVP for 2005, and was named playoff MVP three times, in 1999, 2002 and 2005.

Darren Halls played in the 2006 season for the Arizona Sting, and appeared in 12 games, and was a first selection, fourth overall for the Sting in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft. Halls was traded to Toronto on November 28th of this year.

Kevin Fines joined San Jose as a free-agent in 2005, and had 15 goals and 12 assists in the 2006 season. Chad Thompson had 4 goals and 5 assists in nine games in 2006 for the Stealth.

2007 Opener: The Stealth being their 2007 campaign on Friday January 5th against the Rochester Knighthawks at the HP Pavilion with a 7:30 PM start. San Jose will have three home games in January.
