SAN JOSE--The Portland Lumberjax volted into the Pacific Division title with a two goal victory over their hosts, the San Jose Stealth, 18-16.

The Jax leader Dan Dawson scored seven goals and five assists, helping Portland advance to their next opponent, the Calgary Roughnecks, at the Saddledome in Calgary on Saturday night 6:30PM.

Had the Stealth won the game, they would have hosted next Saturday night's NLL Playoff at San Jose Arena.

It was not to be, as the Stealth are yesterday's news finishing their final game of the 2008 season. The Stealth at one time held a 15-14 one goal lead until Dawson and Ryan Powell each scored back to back goals in the fourth quarter.

The Stealth's Colin Doyle then tied up the game at 15-15. The Lumberjax Brad MacDonald scored what would be the game winner off the draw, and Powell later shot an empty netter for the two goal lead and the 18-16 win.

Ken Gimblin and Joe Cronin covered the Stealth for Pearl Lo and Ralph A Gora for Sportstalk Radio.
