San Jose Stealth beat Portland in a high scoring game for both sides 20-16. San Jose will face the winner of Colorado-Calgary game on Sunday.
It has been 15 years since a team put up 20 goals in a playoff match, and San Jose showed their offensive force tonight. This will be the second time San Jose has been to the finals in the last 3 years.
Portland trailed by quite a margin from the second period to the later part of the fourth period, but they couldn’t put up goals and stop San Jose at the same time. Portland did put up a strong finish, coming back from 18-11 deficit to close the gap to 20-16.
San Jose’s offense was not really limited to a few players this time. In fact, no player scored over three goals today. The Stealth will need to continue their strong offense and match their defensive game if they hope to get to the finals.
