San Jose hosted the Calgary Roughnecks for their season opener at home Friday night. Even though they came off to a strong start, Calgary came back stronger, defeating San Jose 12-10.

San Jose started the first quarter with a 4-1 lead, capitalizing on their home crowd's enthusiasm. Calgary pushed back to tie it up to a 5-5 draw by halftime.

Going into the final quarter the Stealth had given up 5 more goals and hadn't scored any of their own. They looked to recover from this as they scored 4 straight goals, bringing the tally to 10-9. It wasn't to be though. The Roughnecks held on to the lead, and pushed 3 more goals into the net, earning their season opener win.

Comparing the goals showed San Jose's Matt Roik putting up 46 saves to Pat Cambell of the Roughnecks only having to put up 26 saves.

Goal scorers for the Stealth: Frank Resetarits - 3, Tom Johnson - 2 , Jeff Zywicki - 2, and Ruys Duch - 2.

See the Stealth at home next week on the 18th against the Rochester Knighthawks. They face the Minnesota Swarm in an away game on the 10th.
