San Jose, CA – August 4th saw the announcement by the San Jose Sabercats that there would be no season in FY10 with the Arena Football League. The Arena Football League has suspended its operations indefinitely, and this leaves the SaberCats without a league.

The SaberCats are actually seeking for another option to be able to play in some league in 2010. Hank Stern, VP of SaberCats, said that “we are actively exploring options for putting the SaberCats back on the field in 2010.”

The SaberCats have been a popular and successful arena football team. Since they started in 2005, they won the ArenaBowl Championship 3 times (2002,2004,2007), and got to post season 12 times.

The AFL league will probably be filing for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. They were unable to get the 75% of teams to commit to participating in the new season, and this left them with no options.
