Rashied Davis scored five touchdowns and led the Sabercats in their 72-48 home victory over the Grand Rapid Rampage on Friday night at the HP Pavilion.
Davis had 341 all-purpose yards, including two kickoff returns for touchdowns. Davis also had two receiving touchdowns and had one rushing touchdown for good measure.
San Jose’s defense continued to help propel the `Cats to their third straight win. The Rampage’s QB Michael Bishop, the AFL’s version of Michael Vick, was held to only five yards on three carries, though he did pass for 20-33 passing for 222 yards and five touchdowns.
Grand Rapids’ Chris Jackson fell short on his Rashied Davis impersonation, putting up 259 total yards and snapping San Jose’s streak of 26-consecutive games without allowing a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Mark Grieb threw for 277 yards and six scores on 17-26 passing. Davis led the team with 105 receiving yards and Shalon Baker led the team with five yards rushing.
The Sabercats look to continue their winning ways next Monday night when they travel to Las Vegas to take on the Gladiators.
