Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp was hit with a $75,000 fine by the NFL on Thursday, over his argument with game officials last Sunday in Jacksonville. Sapp was fined and might be facing possible suspensions by the league. The NFL however has not suspended Sapp for the last game of the season which the Raiders host the Chargers on Sunday afternoon at the Coliseum.
Sapp is accused of bumping Umpire Garth De Felice after arguing a call that the Raiders had declined a penalty for illegal use of hands by the Jaguars right tackle Tony Pashos.
Sapp and the Raiders Derrick Burgess both argued vehemently that the Raiders in the second half did accept the penalty but officials said that the Raiders declined and both players lost they're cools resulting in Sapp getting ejected from the game.
Burgess was hit for a $25,000 fine. The decision to decline the Raiders penalty gave the Jags field position to kick a 43 yard field goal had the officials deemed the penalty in the Raiders favor the Raiders would have to defend against the Jags run at their own 35 at third and 20.
Sapp drew three flag calls during his argument with DeFelice and was accused of bumping him which Sapp denied. The third flag resulted in Sapp's ejection. Look for
Sapp to get a standing ovation when introduced at the Coliseum on Sunday from Raider fans.
The season ending game starts at 1:15PM. The Raiders are 4-11 and the Chargers are 10-5 entering Sunday's game.
