Things went from bad to worse to the down-right ridiculous in their 2007 road finale for the Oakland Raiders against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The bad came Fred Taylor scored on a 62-yard run on the Jaguars’ first drive of the afternoon and the Jaguars never looked back, as they just demolished the Raiders 49-11.
Then the worse, as this was the worst loss of the season for the Raiders, who fall to 4-11.
Despite throwing a touchdown pass to Zach Miller with six seconds remaining in the game, absolutely nothing went right for the Raiders or Russell on the afternoon.
In all, Russell went 7-for-23 with that touchdown to Miller, but he also threw three interceptions and a fumble, as the Jaguars clinched their second playoff berth in the last three years.
The down-right ridiculous came after picking up three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, Warren Sapp was ejected from the game in the second quarter after arguing with the officials.
Sapp got his first one after arguing with the officials over a missed call that gave the Jaguars a first down instead a third-and-20 from the Raiders’ 35-yard line.
Derrick Burgess joined in the fracas, and was hit with a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Sapp was then hit with his second one, and then he continued talking and he received the third one and the ejection was enforced.
After the penalties were added up, the ball was moved all the way down to the Raiders two-yard line; however the drive ended there, as David Garrard was picked off by Kirk Morrison, who returned 36 yards.
On the afternoon, Garrard went 11-for-18 with 199 yards and the interception, which was just his third of the season.
