The injury that special teams star Jarrod Cooper suffered in the game last Sunday in Kansas City will put a big hole into the Oakland Raiders roster and with the Denver Broncos coming up this Sunday, the Cooper name will be sorely missed.

Cooper, who injured his right knee and went under an MRI on Monday and played in the Raiders last six games including the close but winning game against the Kansas City Chiefs,. Cooper is noted for making plays happen and has the playbook down and finished all his plays on Sunday.

Cooper who was suspended for testing positive for anabolic steroids for four games came back on October 12th and helped produce for the Raiders. Team doctors have said that Cooper now suffers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and is on crutches.

Linebacker Isaiah Ekejiuba said that Cooper's talents on the special teams will be missed when kickoff is here against the Denver Broncos this coming Sunday, "If you're playing, you might think you're doing your best and then you see someone come out and do it better, now you strive to be as good as they are at doing it. Coop came out here and did a great job of leading this team on special teams. He turned us around," said Ekejiuba.

Ekejiuba also said that with Cooper out it would take three to four players to take the place of a player like Cooper. Speaking of Ekejiuba he suffered a foot injury and missed his second straight ball game. Ekejiuba is hoping to get back into the action this Sunday against Denver.

Meanwhile Stuart Schweigert missed his first game since for the first time in his four year NFL career due to a double injury food poising and a calf injury. Schweigert had started or played in 58 games since he joined Oakland and had not missed a game since his junior year in school, "It was tough, it was different for me. I hadn't missed a game since my junior year in college. It was strange," said Schweigert.

Schweigert said that if all feels fine he will be ready to get into the game this Sunday. No practice for the Raiders on Monday. The Raiders head coach rewarded the team with a day off on Monday some of the walking wounded can appreciate that. Coach Lane Kiffin awarded the day off for the victory in Kansas City on Sunday.

Jerry Porter was nursing his left shoulder with an ice pack on Monday at the Raiders facilities in Alameda after getting it roughed up in the game on Sunday. Porter had to be checked on by the Raider medical staff twice while there.

Kiffin wants to make sure that Porter and Ronald Curry both get sufficient amounts of rest in preparation for Sunday's game. Offensive tackles Jonathan Palmer, Albert Toeaina and Torrin Tucker worked out with the Raiders for a 'try out'. Toeaina and Tucker which would have made a good broadcasting tandem with those names were cut by coach Kiffin.

Seth Wand was signed to play right tackle for the injured Cornell Green. Green is out for the season with a foot injury which he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings on November 18th.
