It may have taken nearly three years to the day, but the Oakland Raiders have finally defeated a team from the AFC West.

Justin Fargas ran for 139 yards and a touchdown, as the Raiders defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 20-17 before a hostile crowd at Arrowhead Stadium.

Not only did the Raiders win for the first time within the AFC West for the first time since November 28, 2004, when they defeated the Denver Broncos on a Langston Walker blocked field goal with just seconds remaining to preserve a 25-24 victory, but they also defeated the Chiefs for the first time in their last 10 meetings.

Fargas became the first Raiders running back to rush for 100 yards or more against the Chiefs in Kansas City in 29 years.

Arthur Whittington was the last Raiders running back to top the 100-yard plateau for the Silver and Black in Arrowhead Stadium since he ran for 134 yards on November 5, 1978.

Also with the victory, the Raiders broke a six-game losing streak, as they won for the first time since they defeated the Miami Dolphins at Dolphins Stadium by the final score of 35-17 on September 30.

Fargas scored on a 14-yard run with 9:34 remaining in the game that gave the Raiders the lead for good.

Sebastian Janikowski kicked two field goals for the Raiders, but it was the Chiefs kicker Dave Rayner who did fare well in the game.

Rayner missed two field goals, including a 33-yarder.

The biggest play of the game came when the Chiefs had fourth-and-1 on the Raiders 23-yard line, and Herman Edwards decided to go for it, instead what would have been a potentially game-tying field goal off the foot of Rayner.

Unfortunately, Edwards’ gamble did not pay off, as the Raiders held the Chiefs on fourth down and the ball was turned over to the Raiders on downs.

Daunte Culpepper went 15-for-22 for 170 yards.

Jerry Porter was the Raiders leading receiver, as he had three receptions for 75 yards.
