Raiders wide receiver Ronald Curry said that his former coach Norv Turner got a raw deal. Turner was head coach of the Raiders for 2004 and 2005 and went 9-23 for those two seasons and was let go.

Turner was regarded by Curry as one of the best coaches he's ever experienced for the offense and Turner's current players namely key team player LaDainian Tomlinson says that Turner has it right that all the players on the Chargers get along with Turner and they come out and give it their best for him.

"If you don't like Norv, then, really there's something wrong with you as a person,” said Tomlinson. “He's a guy that can really get along with everybody. He makes you feel comfortable when you're around him."

Comments like this say high volumes about Turner who may stand out in the personality department with the players part of the reason why the Chargers were attracted to him.

None the less the fans have chanted "Marty, Marty" in reference to the Chargers old coach of last year Marty Schottenheimer who lead the Chargers to an amazing 14-2 season last year only to get fired after losing the first round of the playoffs.

Turner is trying to prove to the Charger fans he can get things done and that includes putting a winning season for the Chargers this year. Chargers fans have come up with a site called fireturner.com and after crushing Denver last week 41-3 the hate email has died down.

With a four way tie going in the AFC West at 2-3 with all four teams vying for an edge Turner will not be any different in the division tug of war for respectabiltiy.

"It's the same in most cities in this league. Everyone wants to win. Everyone expects to win. Everyone has a high opinion of their players. This is amazingly competitive league, and the difference is very small," said Turner.

Turner faces the team that fired him in 2005 as he comes in as head coach of the Chargers in 2007. Is Turner hell bent on getting some revenge on the Raiders after they showed him the door? Turner looks at the experience with the Raiders as just that experience he said it's the same pressure he's had when he coached in Washington and in Oakland and now San Diego. Turner realizes you have to win or else.

Raider injuries: Trainers for the Oakland Raiders have put running back LaMont Jordan, defensive end Derrick Burgess and special teams Isaiash Ekejiuba on a day to day basis. The Raiders have noted that Jordan is having problems even sitting down the last two weeks after being carted away two weeks ago in the Raiders last ball game in Miami. Jordan is suffering from a back injury and although the Raiders had the bye last week the Raiders have put Jordan as doubtful for the ball game Sunday in San Diego. Ronald Curry has been getting a crash course in covering for Jordan so it's Curry afternoon to shine.

Kiffin is almost sure that Burgess will see action after missing the last two ball games. The Raiders who have only seven sacks in the last four games and Burgess is really counted on the help with the rush. Burgess was injured during the September 16th game against Denver a right calf injury and re injured himself again on Wednesday in practice.

"You can't be excact about your evaluations all the time. At one point, we thought he was feeling better and then he'd have a set back because he's been pushing himself further.

This would be a disappointing to have another week without him, but we've done it before and if we're forced to do it again, we'll do it again." said coach Kiffin. Stefani Rebekah Black covers Raiders football and co-hosts Sportstalk on 1690 KFSG Sacramento.
