It is only natural that the first meeting of the 2007 season between the Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders would have some kind of controversy.

Sebastian Janikowski kicked what looked like a 52-yard game-winning field goal to give the Raiders a thrilling comeback 23-20 victory in overtime against the Broncos at Invesco Field.

While Janikowski’s was splitting through the uprights, Mike Shanahan called a time out to freeze Janikowski.

After the timeout, Janikowski came back on the field and launched another 52-yard field goal that was on its way thru the uprights; however, it hit the left upright and bounced away.

On the ensuing Broncos possession, Jay Cutler drove the Broncos right down the field and setup Jason Elam for a chip shot 23-yard field goal.

Elam split the uprights to give the Broncos a 23-20 victory.

It was the second week in a row that the Broncos have a game in dramatic fashion.

Last week, Elam hit a field goal at the final gun to give the Broncos a thrilling 15-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Lamont Jordan carried the ball 25 times for 159 yards.

Josh McCown went 8-for-16 for just 73 yards passing and one touchdown. McCown also threw three interceptions.

With the loss, the Raiders still have not won an AFC Western Division since defeating the Broncos at Invesco Field on November 28, 2004.

Jerry Porter had just one catch, but it was a big one, as he reeled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from McCown.
