John Vaughn will not replace Rob Bironas as the kicker for the Tennessee Titans, but what a audition he made in their exhibition game versus the Oakland Raiders.

Vaughn kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired, as the Titans defeated the Raiders 17-16 at LP Field.

The Vaughn game-winner was setup, as Tony Joyner stripped Oren O’Neal of the ball at the Titans’ two-yard line and Stanford Keglar recovered the ball with 2:10 remaining in the game.

Just before the turnover by O’Neal, Adimchinobe Echemandu scampered 71 yards down the sideline, before being tackled inside the Titans’ 10-yard line.

Ingle Martin, who grew up in Nashville led the Titans down the field went 6-of-8 on the drive, including a long pass to Chris Davis.

JaMarcus Russell went 10-for-17 for 75 yards and a touchdown, before leaving the game at the end of the first half.

Russell, who was the first quarterback chosen in the 2007 NFL Draft faced off against Vince Young, who was the first quarterback chosen in the 2006 NFL Draft.

In limited action, Young went 4-for-13 for 37 yards passing, before leaving the game to a smattering of boos by the Titans faithful.

Darren McFadden carried the ball six times for 44 yards, including a 26-yard run in the waning seconds of the first half.

Aaron Elling kicked three field goals in place of the injured Sebastian Janikowski, who is still nursing a left injury.

Once again, the Raiders rushing game was outstanding, as they gained 224 yards on the ground, one week after gaining 248 yards against the San Francisco 49ers at McAfee Coliseum on August 8.
