The San Jose Earthquakes ended the season tonight against the Los Angeles Galaxy with a 2-0 defeat. This ends the Quakes season with 30 points, nowhere what they need to be part of the playoffs for this year.

The first half didn’t go so well for the Quakes, as the first goal for the Galaxy ended up being an own goal on Bobby Burling. Landon Donovan had lobbed a ball over Cannon that looked to score, but Burling tried to poke it away and it ended up taking an angle Cannon couldn’t reach.

The Quakes almost equalized shortly after with a Brandon McDonald header, but was stopped by Ricketts of LA.

The Quakes really didn’t present any threat the rest of the game, and in the 77th minute, Donovan scored again for the Galaxy.

Donovan, Klein, and Beckham connected in a nice give and go series of passes, enabling Donovan to beat Cannon and score.

Look for the Quakes next season to be a stronger team as they picked up some good acquisitions, and started to come together toward the end of the season and play stronger. The off-season should give them time to really train and work together, starting the next season off right.
