Earthquakes draw second time against another top team

With just over 3 minutes left in the game, Los Angeles Galaxy’s Landon Donovan scored the equalizer in a 2-2 tie with San Jose.
It was Donvoan’s third goal of the season. Six seconds before, teammate Edson Buddle had a shot on goal.
The Earthquake’s Cornell Glen got right to it, with a shot on goal in the 2nd minute of the game.
Teammate Bobby Convey followed suit with a goal ten seconds later.
Donovan provided Los Angeles‘s first shot on goal in the 9th minute.
Glen got his second shot on goal in the 18th minute.
Brandon McDonald had a shot on goal in the 29th minute.
The Galaxy had shots in the 37th, 41st and 48th minute to close out the first half.
Los Angeles’s Dema Kovalenko started the second half with a shot on goal in the 48th minute.
In the 49th minute, Donovan had his fourth corner kick which resulted in a shot by Buddle. It was Buddle’s fourth shot of the game and resulted in a goal mouth block.
San Jose’s Bobby Burling received a yellow card in the 53rd minute for a reckless tackle against Juninho.
Buddle evened the game in the 59th minute, aided by Todd Dunivant and Donovan. Buddle leads the league with his 12 goals.
Donovan received a yellow card in the 70th minute for handball.
McDonald scored his first of the season to give the Earthquakes their second lead in the 72nd minute.
The Galaxy’s Sean Franklin received a yellow card in the 89th minute for a reckless tackle against Convey.
To close out the game, Convey became another victim of a yellow card. Juninho received a yellow card in the 93rd minute for a reckless tackle on him.
Game notes: The two goal equalizers were active in the game, Donovan with 10 corner kicks and Buddle with 6 shots. Convey was named as a replacement for injured Jonathan Bornstein in the 2010 MLS All-Star Game on July 28. It will be the first showing by an Earthquake since they re-entered in 2008. Chris Birchall and Gregg Berhalter, usuals for Los Angeles, were benched this game.
