Toronto FC and the San Jose Earthquakes both extend their winless streaks, as they played at Toronto ’s home venue, which was tough to play on because of rain earlier.

San Jose started its newcomers today were Francisco Lima, Scott Sealy, and Darren Huckerby after they signed with the club this week. Ryan Cochrane also returned from his ankle injury on June 22nd.

San Jose ( 3-9-5 ) extends its winless streak to seven games, while Toronto ( 6-6-4 ) extends theirs to five.

While there were no goals, both teams had their shining moments. San Jose came out early and looked that it would score in the 19th minute as they took a free kick at the edge of the 18yard box. Ronnie O’Brien played a trick as newcomer Francisco Lima attempted to send a left-footed strike to the top of the net. It went over the top of the goal.

Toronto had its best chance to score in the 68th minute as James Riley was called for a penalty in the box, creating a penalty kick for Toronto’s set piece specialist Guevara. Fortunately for the Quakes, Cannon was on top of his game and he guessed right and stopped the shot on the left side.

With the tie, this will give San Jose only one point, for a total of 14, which is the bottom of the Western Conference. Toronto is fifth in the Eastern with a total of 22 points.
