CARSON, CA – Chivas USA defeated the San Jose Earthquakes today 1-0 with a late game goal which broke the shutout tie. This followed a long game of strong defense and both teams fighting to score unsuccessfully.

In the 88th minute, Ante Razov of the Chivas put Chivas USA on the scoreboard. He was given the opportunity to take a free kick from 28 yards out. He delivered a shot that flew by Joe Cannon on the right side of the net.

The strongest chance for the Earthquakes came in the 37th minute as he sent a shot in hard that hit the goalpost. When Kei Kamara tried to put the rebound in the net his shot went wide and missed.

This puts Chivas USA (6-6-3) into a tie for the top of the Western Conference, tied with the LA Galaxy (6-6-3). Unfortunately for San Jose (3-9-3), this shutout solidifies their position at the bottom of the Western Conference.
