Sandy, Utah – It was almost a San Jose Earthquakes victory tonight in Real Salt Lake until the 91st minute and a San Jose own goal would tie the game for RSL. Unfortunately for San Jose, this extends their road streak to 17 winless games.
San Jose’s scoring for this game came in the second half, as Arturo Alvarez and Pablo Campos would come together for a goal in the 63rd minute. Campos fed a pass across to Alvarez who dribbled past a few RSL defenders, opening up for another well placed shot just inside the right post.
San Jose would get a break 14 minutes later, as Fabian Espindola would receive a red card for kicking Brandon McDonald in the legs in retribution for a previous trip by McDonald.
1 minute into final stoppage time saw San Jose’s 1 goal lead fall apart as RSL’s Morales sent a ball that went off of Chris Leitch’s foot, rolling into the net to the dismay of San Jose.
San Jose plays again at home next week on the 11th at 7:30pm.
