BRIDGEVIEW, IL – Today’s game was a tale of two goalkeepers, as the San Jose Earthquakes and the Chicago Fire went scoreless for a draw. There was plenty of action, just no goals.

Joe Cannon of the Quakes made four saves which lead to his fifth shutout of the season. He also has 61 career shutouts. Chicago Fire goalkeeper Busch was leading the league with 0.85 goals-against average. This tie gives him 31 career shutouts and his fifth of the season also.

San Jose had its closest moment to scoring in the 51st minute when Ramiro Corrales fired a free kick toward the goal, just hitting the crossbar and back into play. In the 86th minute, Shea Salinas sent a shot into the goalpost that Kei Kamara almost sent into the net.

The Fire put three late attempts on the goal, but Joe Cannon was able to fend them off and stop the Fire from scoring.

San Jose has had a difficult season for injuries on its offense. It has not been able to play Gavin Glinton, Jovan Kirovski, and Peguero John Philippe much, but tonight Kei Kamara was back from his world cup qualifiers with his home country. It wasn’t enough to spark the offense to win though.

San Jose (3-8-3) has not won a game in their last four matches. They currently have the worst record in the league. Chicago (6-5-2) lost their last 3 matches, but today’s tie stops the losing streak.
