WASHINGTON – DC United defeated the Quakes 3-0 today with a strong 2nd half finish. The game was scoreless going into the second half as both teams looked to the second half to be theirs.

Shortly into the second half, United’s Clyde Simms took a low shot from 25 yards out that ricocheted off the foot of Earthquakes defender, causing it to go in the goal. Cannon attempted to stop it, but he dove the wrong direction.

San Jose struck right back at United. 1 minute later Wells crossed it over to John Cunliffe, who put it into the net.

The action continued as Martinez of DC United powered in a shot from the left side to the far post in the 55th minute. This broke the tie, putting DC up 2-1.

In the 88th minute, Emilio gave United the insurance goal.

San Jose moves to (3-8-2) for the season and DC United moves to (6-7-1). United has won their last 5 matches, this ties them with Real Salt Lake for the highest winning streak of this season.
