Dallas, TX – The San Jose Earthquakes (2-7-3) come back strong in the second half to tie FC Dallas (2-6-4) with a score of 2-2. The second half intensity that guided them to a win last week only brought them a tie this week. Arturo Alvarez and Shea Salinas scored for the Quakes.
San Jose was missing two of last weeks starters in their victory in Simon Elliot and Cornell Glen, who were both called out to international duty.
FC Dallas got their first score in the 29th minute as Ferreira hit a right footed shot past Cannon, who just got a hand on it but couldn’t stop it.
San Jose couldn’t get a shot on goal until the 40th minute, but didn’t score until the second half. End of half FCD had 5 shots on goal to San Jose’s 1.
Shea Salinas would equalize for the Quakes in the 60th minute. Salinas lined up a free kick from about 30 yards out and sent it sailing toward the net. The ball would bounce off the head of FCD player Ricchetti as he tried to clear it, good for the Quakes he cleared it right into the net.
The 82nd minute saw Arturo Alvarez giving San Jose another goal, putting them up 2-1. Alvarez beat out defender Marcelo Saragosa and sent another of his arcing left footed shots into the top corner of the net.
Unfortunately for San Jose, Kenny Cooper of Dallas would score again in the 87th minute to equalize for FCD.
San Jose will play the Seattle Sounders in Seattle next Saturday.
