Houston, TX – The San Jose Earthquakes traveled to take on their MLS rival Houston Dynamo today in Houston. The rivalry sharply turned in Houston’s favor, as they easily beat San Jose 3-1 today.
The usual player feuding between Nick Garcia and Kei Kamara played out some in the news during the week, but Kamara kept his cool and contributed to the Houston Win. Kamara has earned Red Cards in their last pre-season matches and in the recent match this year.
Houston got on the boards quick with a Brian Ching header that sailed past Joe Cannon in the fourth minute. Eight minutes later Kei Kamara scored his first goal against his old team, as he put a header in from a Brad Davis pass.
San Jose continued to fight, focusing offense around Arturo Alvarez, but still could not score in the first half.
Houston would put another goal in the net in the 50th minute, catching San Jose on a corner kick that didn’t get cleared out completely.
Ryan Johnson got a breakaway and scored a few minutes later, showing San Jose was still in the game. Johnson almost scored in the 60th minute, as he had a great shot, but was called offsides.
San Jose looks to break the winless streak on Wednesday, with another game on the road against the Columbus Crew.
