San Jose started and then kept scoring as they gave the formerly hot New York their worst defeat of the season, with a 4-0 shutout Saturday.

The Earthquakes didn't take long to build their lead which they achieved late in the first half, as Joey Gjertsen made it 2-0 in the 54th minute with his first of his career, helped by Ryan Johnson and Bobby Convey.

San Jose's Chris Wondolowski became the fourth franchise player to score four consecutive goals in as many games, goalkeeper Joe Cannon posted his third consecutive shutout at home, Convey provided a trio of assists and Ryan Johnson scored for the third straight game against New York, as the Earthquakes dealt the second-best team in Major League Soccer their second season loss in ending their three-game winning streak.

The Red Bulls haven't won on the Earthquakes turf since October 5, 2003.

New York's Tony Tchani received a yellow card for a reckless foul at 3:37 against Chris Wondolowski in the 4th Minute.

In the 7th Minute, the Red Bulls' Joel Lindpere's corner kick was followed by a shot from teammate Juan Pablo Angel, whose shot sailed over the net.

A red card was issued to New York's Luke Sassano, who was ejected for a serious foul play against Convey.

Lindpere received two more corner kicks in the 15th and 16th Minutes. The third one resulted in a shot by teammate Seth Stammier, in which the ball also went high.

The Earthquakes went offside three times between the 21st and 26th Minute.

San Jose got their chance at a corner kick and then shot in the 28th Minute, when Convey's kick preceded Andre Luiz's shot, which was saved by Bouna Coundoul.

Convey received a yellow card for a tactical foul on Tchani in the 43rd Minute.

This was followed by an Earthquakes' goal the next minute, as Convey aided Johnson for a 1-0 Quakes lead and the first-half advantage.

Convey's corner kick in the 60th minute resulted in a shot by Gjertsen, which went wide left. Wondolowski's goal gave the team a 3-0 lead in the 77th Minute. He was assisted by Ramiro Corrales.

Convey had his best corner kick result in the 85th minute, when Bobby Burling got his first goal of the season on the assist. Burling was substituting once again for Ike Opara. In total, Convey had five corner kicks during the game.

Game notes: San Jose hosted Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy organization. The team will be organizing a walk team to help with fundraising at Kelly Park, Saturday June 5. The Earthquakes next travel to Gilette Stadium on Saturday, May 15, to face the New England Revolution on their turf at 3pm.
