This year is the same as last year, as the Monarchs’ playoff run ended at the AT&T Center at the hands of the San Antonio Silver Stars. Monday night, Sacramento forced the contest into overtime, but still fell to the Stars 86-81.

Nicole Powell led the Monarchs with 21 points and Kara Lawson had 12 in the defeat. The Silver Stars’ Sophia Young led all scorers with 27 points.

The Monarchs battled back from as many as 14 points down behind inspired play by Powell and Ticha Penicheiro to pull even in the final moments, but could not hold on to advance to the next round.

The Silver Stars move on to the Conference Finals where they will take on the winner of the Sparks v. Storm series.
